If you need assistance in areas of law that are not covered by our clinic and are not covered by family, criminal or immigration certificates, Legal Aid Ontario may be able to help you. For example if you need help with mental health and capacity hearings and appeals, prison law matters contact LAO’s Client Service Centre. The toll free number is: 1-800-668-8258 and press 0.
No coins are required from a payphone and LAO accepts collect calls. This service is offered in 120 languages.

The FLIC is located at Family Court. It’s a drop-in centre with service on a first come-first serve basis. At the FLIC, you can get legal advice, obtain court forms and brochures, information about mediation and community resources.

The Law Society Referral Service (LSRS) used to be known as the Lawyer Referral Service (LRS).
In response to growing public demand, the Law Society has expanded its referral service to include paralegals as well as lawyers and added the ability to request a referral online. We asked that you update the information to the following:
The Law Society Referral Service is designed to provide callers with up to 30 minutes of consultation either by phone or in person at no charge. A Legal Information Officer will receive the call and assess the needs of the client and then provide the name of a lawyer or paralegal who best fits the client’s stated needs.
