The Clinic welcomes the participation of individuals who share our aims and objectives and encourages you to become a member of the clinic. Members are kept informed of clinic activities, most importantly at our annual general meeting.

Hamilton Community Legal Clinic Objectives

The establishment, maintenance and operation of a bilingual (English/French) community legal clinic within the City of Hamilton, for the benefit of low income individuals and disadvantaged communities, corporations, associations, and groups situate within the said City, for the purposes of:

  1. providing legal services, inclusive of paralegal services on a basis other than fee for service;
  2. promoting the legal welfare of individuals and communities, particularly those of limited financial means;
  3. promoting activities reasonably designed to encourage access to our services;
  4. encouraging active participation in matters of law associated with poverty and social justice, particularly among those of limited financial means, by conducting public legal education, community organizing and law reform activities.

As a member you will get to vote at that meeting and help shape the work we do for this community.  As a member, you demonstrate that you support the valuable service we provide.

Board Members must also be regular members of the clinic. Membership is free and open to anyone who lives, works or volunteers in Hamilton and subscribes to the objectives of our Legal Clinic.

You will receive periodic updates about our work and information on current issues, campaigns and events. You are also eligible to attend and vote at our Annual General Meeting and run for the Board of Directors.
